In the heart of Schenectady, New York, Vice & Virtue Restaurant and Cocktail Bar stands as a culinary haven, and at its helm is the mastermind behind its delectable creations, Executive Chef Chris Rose. With a profound passion for American-style cuisine, Chef Rose weaves his culinary magic by infusing fresh ingredients with bold and unique flavors, setting a new standard for gastronomic excellence.

Chris Rose's culinary journey has deep roots in Fulton County, where he grew up immersed in the world of fine dining. His childhood home was above the Union Hall Inn, owned by his parents, James Rose and Luann Russell. The Union Hall Inn, a fine dining establishment in Johnstown, New York, was not just a family business; it was a culinary school for young Chris. His father, a CIA graduate, and accomplished chef, taught him the art of cooking from a tender age, instilling in him a love for the culinary arts.

By the age of 12, Chris Rose was already working in kitchens, realizing his innate talent and passion for creating exceptional dishes. After graduating high school in 2010, he took his culinary aspirations to the next level by enrolling in the Culinary Arts program at Schenectady County Community College. During his academic journey, he honed his skills and gained practical experience by working at Vandeline’s in Broadalbin.

In 2011, the Rose family, Jim and Shelly Rose, and Chris, embarked on a new culinary adventure by acquiring Vandeline’s and transforming it into Wine and Roses, a family restaurant dedicated to serving creative comfort food made with sustainable ingredients. This venture not only showcased Chef Rose's culinary prowess but also reinforced the family's commitment to providing a memorable dining experience.
